A Message from Our Chief Executive Officer
Friends,
I have always resisted New Year’s resolutions (and diets for that matter) because I have found them to be unsustainable. Or perhaps because, as Oscar Wilde famously put it, “I can resist everything except temptation.” The bottom line is that resolutions have not worked too well for me. I have found it more productive to work on more modest and sustainable changes to my behaviors to advance personal and professional goals, rather than make grandiose proclamations about how I am going to become a better person, and within two months or so be back to my former habits.
All that being said, at Archway, we have some big ideas about how to expand our impact and improve our work. While our 2022 commitments border on the grandiose, they are grounded in defined plans designed to improve our odds for success. Our 2022 goals are to make Archway Bigger, Stronger and Better. Yes, I know, these “goals” sound rather ambitious and a bit fuzzy, don’t they?
Allow me to explain:
Bigger here means we plan to add at least 350 units to our portfolio by the end of 2023, with 148 of those units scheduled to be online by the end of 2022. We are also expanding our pipeline by the end of the year with the goal of having another 200+ units in the queue for 2023 and beyond. Regarding our staff, we anticipate that we will have expanded to over 50 employees by January 2023 to help us achieve these goals.
Stronger means that we will be more financially robust and able to acquire and preserve existing affordable housing communities as well as real estate for new communities. We have defined targets for our cash position, total assets and fundraising goals for this new year. If you are curious about any of these, feel free to reach out to me!
Better means, among many other things, we will fully roll out and adopt our new technology systems for property management, social services and financial management by year-end. Better services means that we will have completed Community Needs Assessments for all our communities by the end of the year and have plans in place to meet their needs and measure our success through clear and specific goals and tracking outcomes through our new services tracking software system, Apricot 360. For our team, better means that we will continue to refine individual performance goals and metrics, support our staff through training and continuously promote our organizational culture, known as The Archway.
I am confident that we have the team in place today to help us achieve these goals and many others, primarily centered around expanding our reach throughout the state of Colorado and continually assessing and improving our delivery of high quality affordable housing and related services.
My best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy 2022. As always, I am grateful for your support, critiques and collaboration!
